Forgive me if you have looked for an update in the last 3 months, they have all come at once because life has been beautifully busy and the time has flown by, I do tend to keep them in notepads without catching a moment to sit down and type them up. Clearly it is something I need to work on in future. I have to say that this month was actually quite quiet by comparison to the other two, with exception of some MAJOR NEWS.

I joined Cyber Security training company Bob’s Business last month and had the amazing opportunity to co-write two chapters of a book with Melanie Oldham on cyber security threats and vulnerabilities. I can’t tell you much more without telling you everything but the chapters are now completed after throwing nearly 150 hours into creating them. It’s definitely something I can see myself doing again in later months / years.  Despite how much work it was, it was absolutely worth it, and it has given me a new lease of life for attacking my literature review with.

I had some issues with my main project for my PhD and I’ve had to look at alternatives and ways around creating something that will be a great back up option if the whole project was not to go ahead. I also have some seriously amazing mentors to look upto who have provided me with some great advice about moving forward and getting over these limitations, the problems brought opportunities from different places and now I have actually managed to strengthen my original project with this new option! I will be telling people about this soon as I’m about to start developing this as all the research is done and some primary data collection will be on its way soon!

I also attended a presentation on the three minute thesis (3MT) challenge and I’m currently designing my slide and presentation ready for the main event. It’s been a fantastic month and it has pulled me out of the slump I was in and demonstrated that I am capable of doing a crazy amount of work in a short amount of time. I only got involved with the book chapters for 3 weeks and managed to create something I am proud to be part of, I’m not planning on that theme changing anytime soon!

Hopefully life on this journey will continue to challenge me and excite me.
